Duca D’Aosta

We designed this Emanuele Fileberto Duca D’Aosta to be a ship you can put together in the weekend — a great ship for a person new to the hobby, as a longer ship, or a ship that won’t get you in trouble with your Admiral over the time and cost to build.

As an introduction to a completely new type of manufacturing for this hull, we’re having a sale to get as many out in the field as possible. Yes, the hull and deck are only $20 (plus shipping).

What makes this ship unique is that the hull and sub-deck are integrated in the molding process. The stuffing tubes and rudder post hole will be pre-drilled unless requested otherwise. Windows are easily cut out using an oscillating cutter (like the <$20 ones from Harbor Freight). The hull material is the same as what kayaks are made of, and it is quite tough. By eliminating the hardest parts of the build, someone new should be able build one from a battle kit in a weekend (and possibly a lot less; I’m working on it). It may also be viable to have almost-ready-to-run-boats in the not-t0o-distant future.

This is the only kit that we do not have a set of plans that we can distribute with the kits. The hull and superstructure were generated using the Profile Morskie plans.

NOTE: More than hull can be ordered, but the shipping charges will be higher than what is listed and will be billed separately. We picked up some special boxes that barely hold a single hull, and the volume keeps the shipping costs as low as they are.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT REMAINING HULLS: Our latest and last batch of hulls had some flaws that you will need to fix before the ship is finished. It is all fairly simple epoxy work and removing flash from the mold, but we will only be doing it here for orders of the hull kit or battle kit (not for a hull and deck order). The hulls are functional, but they have a series of small pits around the mold parting line and will need epoxy dribbled into the nose from the inside.
