Thanks for Visiting us at Maker Faire!
Thanks for coming to Maker Faire, where Strike Models sponsored the Western Warship Combat Club‘s exhibit. We’re updating our website with more information about purchasing kits and an overview of the hobby, but it will take a day or two to recover from Faire and add that information. Please visit the Club’s website to see a gallery of hundreds of photos of previous battles, and learn about what is happening in the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Big Gun model warship combat.
Are They Really Armed?
Yes! Each ship is armed with guns that fire BBs or ball bearings, powered by CO2 or air tanks. Larger ships typically have rotating turrets with magazines, while smaller ships must be manually re-armed after each shot.
Do They Really Sink?
Yes! The ships are designed to be sunk in shallow ponds and recovered, and are often combat-ready again in less than an hour. The sides of the ship are “armored” with thin balsa wood which is easily damaged in combat, but the internal components are more heavily protected.
Want More Information?
We’ll be adding information about how to get started in the hobby, how you can buy kits (we sell hulls, kits, accessories, and assorted other items), differences between Big Gun and Fast Gun, and more. We’ve been busy at Maker Faire instead of writing pages of wonderful detail (that will come later). Do email info@strikemodels.com with any questions you have, we’d love to hear from you!
